photo of John King's casebooks, King reused booklets and other small pads of paper for his cases and his scrapbook. He would either write on a scrap piece of paper and glue it in or he would write within the preexisting text. Additionally, a note on page 1 on the 1866-1868 – the casebook looks like it was a reference page for him. In the top left corner, you can see rates/quotes for charges from a doctor in New York. American Eclectic Dispensatory
This was a reference book of all the various medicines and treatments for American Eclectic physicians. Multiple editions are present with supplements. Dr. King wrote this large volume detailing how to make these medicines, similar to any apothecary.
